Flying Scotsman Bigjigs train is surely a 'must have' wooden train for every discerning child's wooden railway collection. The Flying Scotsman train is quite probably the most famous steam locomotive in the world. The real Flying Scotsman is actually being restored as we tell you this at the National Railway Museum whose work has been funded by the nation, because the Flying Scotsman IS that special. Scotsman served us during the war & for many years hence. Their work is nearly done, well done them! This little wooden train has magnetic couplings and is of course, compatible with all leading wooden train sets.
Flying Scotsman first graced British railways in 1923 as number 1472. After appearing at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924, it was re-christened, The Flying Scotsman' and powered from London to Edinburgh in 8 hours. Flying Scotsman was also the first ever locomotive to clock 100 mph! We wonder if her designer, Sir Nigel Gresley knew how special the Scotsman was going to be. This little wooden train model is made from Forest Stewardship Council sustainable wood and whilst the original Scotsman was designed to be the fastest of its day, this magnificent little train is surely one of the most elegant on your wooden train track.
